Yoga 101 ~4 week series~ September 7, 14, 21, 28

Registration required (click here)
$48 for 4 class series.

This 4 week series is designed to teach the basic principles of yoga to allow you to experience the benefits of this ancient practice in it’s modern form. Yoga can provide many benefits such as relieving stress and creating a sense of balance and well being. It can also build strength, increase flexibility and create awareness of more subtle aspects of body, mind and heart.

In this series we will highlight the basic principles of anatomy, breath, and body movement. We will discuss alignment of common standing and seated postures and learn when and how to use  modifications including props when needed for injuries or other restrictions. Some yoga philosophy will be woven into each class and we will learn a little about the different styles of yoga.  Participants can expect both a workshop setting where we will break down postures with time for questions and discussion as well as time for mindful movement and breathing to practice what we’ve learned. At the end of this series participants will be empowered with the foundations they need to practice yoga safely and with purpose either at home or in open yoga classes.

This class will be co-taught with 2-3 teaching at each session. We offer this class to those who have never tried yoga or who want to learn more about the basics of the practice. Registration is required and space is limited so that we can provide the proper attention to each participant. Please feel free to share this information with anyone who has expressed and interest in yoga and would like to get started in this type of class.
