Mellow Mondays Series

This image available for purchase – support local art and the love of yoga.

The practice of yoga is varied so we believe there is a practice for almost anyone. In this class series we will turn to the quieter practices of Hatha yoga,Yin Yoga and Restorative yoga to allow us to find ease through our body, mind, heart explorations and its way of affecting the whole being. Yoga is a science, art, and practice dedicated to offering a way to live fully and presently.

Each week we will explore gentle physical, mental, and breath practices to help you reduce stress with gentle movement, passive stretching, and relaxing techniques to promote a sense of well-being. To carry that into your everyday living, each week you will receive a home practice suggestion to use between classes for support. At the end of the six weeks you will have several practices to continue in your yoga practice and life practice, enhancing how you already live well with greater awareness, ease and enjoyment.

Class size is limited. Please register in advance. Classes meet 5:30-6:45pm September 21, 28 and October 5 , 12, 19, 26.

  • For Series only: 6 week session for $60
  • Combine 6 week series with a YTY class pass (current or new):  $45

Late Summer Updates

The Easy Days of Summer

A long-awaited respite from the busy year is finally in our midst. Gone are the weeks filled with extra workshops and special classes – instead we are enjoying a brief season of regularly scheduled classes while we all take time to enjoy the outdoors, travel, and the reap the season’s many offerings. May your afternoons be filled with sitting lake-side, pool-side or friend-side.

The anticipation of few projects have made their way to fruition, or nearly so. Mary welcomed to the world grandbaby Henry on Monday, July 27. All of the family are doing well. Thanks for your patience during “the wait” and for Lia and Bethel’s support of the studio during this time.

The City of Troy has officially notified East Main Street businesses that the streetscape project will begin on Monday, August 3. Yay!  You can expect parking and entrances to businesses to be restricted as the construction begins, which will improve our streets and sidewalks.  In August work will be on the South side of the street, and in September, the North (Yellow Tree Yoga) side. During both phases you can expect limited parking. Don’t forget there is a public lot on the South side behind the building across from Yellow Tree Yoga.

Teacher Training Updates

August will complete our formal teacher training. You can look forward to seeing some of the teachers expand their teaching into the classes at Yellow Tree in the apprentice phase, while others will use their knowledge beyond our walls, sharing the benefits of yoga with the world.

Yellow Tree Yoga Teacher Training Program is taking another approach to formalized Teacher Training by entering into a one-on-one teaching arrangement. There is no set schedule, but rather through workshops and individualized scheduling we fulfill the requirements in a time frame compatible to the individual needs. If this approach seems like a good fit for you, please contact Mary. We plan to have an introductory session August 18-20.
